19 Days til Christmas – DIY Body Scrubs

countdowntochristmas-graphic

Today, we are getting into some DIY’s. These are super simple, and you probably already have everything you need in your kitchen already. The key to dressing up this reletively inexpensive gift is presentation. Mason Jars are usually the go-to. They are super easy to find (especially if you are shopping from your own kitchen already). Pop a cute lable on, with some basic instructions, and maybe even a little square of fabric, and you have a cute little gift.

The other great thing about these, is that you can easily adjust the quantities. If you only have one person to gift this to (or your just making it for yourself), you can scale it back. For a larger gifting audience, you can easily make a bigger batch by doubling up on the ingredients.

There is a little bit of play in these, you may need to add a little more sugar, or a little less spice. Play around until you are happy with the end product. You may also want to take the presentation up a notch and use coloured sugar in layers.

To make these, just melt the coconut oil and combine all ingredients listed. Add more sugar if you want a thicker scrub. Just remember the coconut oil will come back to a solid state. (as long as it is stored below 24 degrees Celcius).

Pumpkin Spice Latte Scrub

I cup Granulated Sugar

1/4 cup Coconut Oil

2 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice

2 tsp Vanilla Extract

Peppermint Scrub

1 cup Granulated Sugar

1/4 cup Coconut Oil

20 drops of Peppermint Extract (you could use Essential oil too, I just had the extract and didn’t want to go out and spend more money)

This one’s photo’s just turned out white, so I left them out… So if you are going to make these, for visual impact, you may want to use coloured sugar. You could alternate red and white, or green and white, or whatever colour you want really. Just mix it up into different batches for whatever colour you are going to do, then layer each different colour in your final packageing. You may want to test a little out on your skin and be sure any colour isn’t left behind on the skin. I’ve never had a problem, but its a good thing to check for.

Gingerbread Scrub

1 cup Granulated Sugar

1/4 cup Coconut Oil

1 tsp Ginger

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp cloves

The pumpkin spice and the gingerbread look identical to each other, and only the gingerbread one had semi decent photos, so that is why they look the same… because they are.
